Time again for our somewhat annual trip to Centreville on Centre Island. It was nice this year that both Ava and Iona got to go on the rides together. No need for Mom or Dad to ride the Teacups anymore. Yeah!
It was a perfect day – not too hot, or too cool. Crowds were very light, so there were hardly any lines to wait in. We went to Amsterdam Brewhouse for dinner afterwards, where Ava lost her first upper-middle tooth. She was a bit upset about it.
For Ava’s third birthday we took her to Centre Island so that she could have some fun at Centreville. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate on June 12th, her actual birthday, so we went on the 13th. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was sunny, temperatures around 22C, and we even managed to get free parking at the new underground parking lot at Harbourfront Place.
I haven’t been to Centre Island, or Centreville, since I was a kid. I was surprised to find that many of the rides were the same. I can distinctly remember the antique car ride where you get to steer a car around a course. Of course they still had the log ride, which Ava loved. Most of the rides Ava was able to go on by herself. There were a few that I had to go with her, so it was a lot of fun.
After a day on the island we took the ferry back and had dinner at Watermark Irish Pub located in the Queen’s Quay Centre. Food was good and they had a huge outdoor patio.
